New Years Resolutions And Pets

Many of us have a New Years Resolutions and studies show that the number one resolution is to live a

healthier lifestyle in one form or another; but what about our pets?

Did you know that nearly 60% of dogs and cats in Canada have weight problems?

Did you know that according to a 2012 US study 88% of New Years Resolutions fail?

So how do we help our pets and ourselves succeed?

Love is not spelled T-R-E-A-T when it comes to our pets. The need a pet has for a treat is a behaviour that we have trained into them. All your pet needs are a good quality diet, shelter, water and YOU.

So next time Fluffy or Fido starts to beg for a treat pick up that cat teaser, laser pointer, ball or leash and plan for 10 minutes of extra TLC for you and your pet. Something even as simple as a 10 min walk around the house with a toy can greatly enrich the bond with your pet. The joy and giggles you get from watching your pet playing can help alleviate stress after a hard day at work. Follow the session with a good cuddle or grooming session and you will both be feeling amazing.

So this year if your New Year Resolution was to have a healthier lifestyle incorporate Fluffy or Fido into it to make it far more enjoyable and less of a chore.
